Adewale Alebiosu, a well-known Yoruba actor who plays Babalawo or Ifa priest characters in movies, has admitted that reciting certain incantations had an effect on him in real life.
Goldennewsng reports that In an interview with BBC Yoruba, Alebiosu stated that he was simply performing his role as an actor and that he had no idea that the prayers he was reciting could come back to haunt him in real life.
He said that while he was sleeping, he would see strange things, some of which would even turn into goats and attack him.
“I never knew there was so much more to the incantations I was delivering,” Alebiosu stated. I thought I was just saying my lines, not realizing there would be consequences. After the act, whenever I got home and went to sleep, I would see strange creatures, some of which would transform into goats and start biting me.
Alebiosu warned that those in the future who want to portray a Babalawo should exercise extreme caution and be prepared to pray. He claims that the role necessitates numerous safety measures.
He stated, “I’m saying this to warn them so that they don’t end up remorseful for their lives or miserable.”
