Today, November 16, 2019, Bayelsans will vote for their preferred number one citizen in the Bayelsa governorship election 2019, to oversee the south-south state for another four years.
Goldennewsng reports that the Bayelsa election will take place in eight (8) Local Government Areas (LGA), 2,244 polling units and voting points.
According to INEC Bayelsa has 923,182 registered voters with 239 electoral wards, and 867,088 voters who collected their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) are eligible to participate in the governorship election today.

All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been identified by political analysts as the main contenders for the election.
However, Forty-five (45) political parties and candidates are registered for the Bayelsa governorship election but two; the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been identified by political analysts as the main contenders for the election
David Lyon of the APC is hoping to take over from the incumbent Governor Seriake Henry Dickson who is backing Douye Diri (PDP candidate) for the state.
The election is being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
