The Federal Government has officially commenced the long-awaited payment of ₦44,000 in minimum wage arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This move fulfils a prior promise tied to the recent upward review of the NYSC monthly allowance—from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000. The payment specifically applies to ex-corps members who completed their service before the new allowance came into effect earlier this year.

Former Corps Members React With Joy

Former corps members have taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the receipt of the payment, sharing their excitement and gratitude.

  • @Kingpin_black1 wrote: “Thank you NYSC. Thank you President Tinubu. Nigeria will be great again.”

  • @pharmacist_shezzy tweeted: “44k don land. NYSC no carry last. God bless Nigeria.”

  • @ifeoluwa_X shared: “Just got my alert. I almost deleted my NYSC account. Thank you FG.”

The rollout has sparked a wave of positivity across social platforms, with many Nigerians praising the administration for honoring its word. The gesture is widely viewed as a sign of renewed trust and accountability in government processes.

As thousands of former corps members begin receiving the arrears, this development is being celebrated not only as financial relief but also as a hopeful sign of better days ahead—especially for Nigerian youth and fresh graduates.
