BREAKING: FG extends NIN-SIM linkage – See New Deadline

Federal Government has extended the  NIN-SIM linkage – See New Deadline below;

 

The ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise have been extended by eight weeks, the Federal Government announced on Tuesday morning.

Given the challenges been encountered, the government has extended the exercise by eight weeks.

Punch reports that this was announced by the director, public affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde.

Recall,  GoldenNewsNg earlier reported that the NIMC registration deadline , the deadline for subscribers with the National Identification Number NIN ) to link with their mobile number has been postponed to 9 February, 2021.

Following the above report, The federal government has given respite to many Nigerians over the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise.

Adinde said minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami conveyed the message during the meeting of the Ministerial Taskforce on NIN-SIM  How To Check If Your NIN Has Successfully Linked To Your SIM (All Networks) registration which held on the 1st of February, 2021. With this, the new deadline was now April 6, 2021.

GoldenNewsNg earlier reported that despite the appeal by the government and its agencies including the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and the ministry of communication and digital economy, many Nigerians are yet to enroll for the NIN two weeks before the deadline.

It has been gathered that Nigerians have not registered due to fear of being infected with the coronavirus pandemic as a result of long queues with no regard for social distancing.

The NIMC said via its Twitter page, @nimc_ng, that the SIM can be linked to different telecommunication operators using these codes: MTN: *785#; Airtel: *121*1#; Glo: *109*NIN#; 9Moble: *200*8#.
