Gunshots in Edo legislative quarters over Edo House Of Assembly Speaker Impeachment
“I gave my all” Hon. Francis Okiye laments while reacting to his impeachment
GoldenNewsNg reports that Edo House Of Assembly Speaker has been Impeached.
Residents around Ihama road where the Edo state House of Assembly quarter is situated, are currently running for safety in fear as continuous rapid gunshots emanates from the official residents of members of Edo state house of Assembly.
This development is coming after Hon. Frank Okiye, a loyalist of the Deputy Governor Hon Philip Shaibu and former factional speaker of the house was controversially impeached and later suspended for 3 months by a plenary headed by Hon. Amb Marcus Onobun the elected factional speaker and also a loyalist of Edo state Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
According to Chris Osa Media , The impeachment of Frank Okiye is suspected to be as a result of power tussle between the Governor and his Deputy on who controls the house.
Meanwhile the Speaker Hon. Frank Okiye while responding to his impeachment confirmed to news men that it is true that he has been impeached, he said “Yes.
It is true that I have been impeached this morning and it is the prerogative of the House, but I am fine and feeling fulfilled. But I must say that till now, nobody has told me of any offence why I was impeached because I gave my all”,
