Chelsea Interested in Pedraza
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Villareal’s left-back, Alfonso Pedraza, who Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of and will be looking to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer in order to strengthen his squad.
The 25year-old currently has a four years contract with Villareal which will be ending in 2025 and a release clause of £35 million. But Villareal may cash in on him if Chelsea comes knocking.
Pedraza appeared 44 times for Unai Emery last season, where he became a reliable player for the Spanish boss on his run to another Europa League title.
Chelsea Eyeing De Ligt Move
Chelsea are reportedly interested in the signing of Juventus center defender, Matthijs De Ligt.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their center-back options and believe Matthijs De Ligt has all the qualities to help them build a strong gate in the heart of the defense.
The 21-year-old who is currently playing for Juventus appeared 36 times for the Italian giants last season and has contract with Juventus until 2024 but Chelsea sees him as a potential replacement for Thiago Silver and may push for a possible transfer.
Monchi Comments On Kounde Transfer
Sevilla Director, Monchi has spoken on the Chelsea-Kounde transfer after some weeks of silence.
According to Monchi, he stated:
“Many clubs have asked for Kounde. Of course, there’s interest but no official bid on the table. I don’t know whats’s going to happen but if an important bid arrives, we will sell as this is our policy to improve the team.”
Emery Heaps Praise On Chelsea
Villareal coach Unai Emery has heaped praise on Chelsea, calling them deserving Champions of Europe and the best club in the world.
Speaking on his pre-match press conference ahead of the Super Cup clash against Chelsea today, the Spanish international believes Chelsea is the best club in the world.
“If they are champions of the Champions League then they are stronger than the Chelsea of 2019,’ he said. ‘We are going to play for a title, and we are going to play against the best team in the world.
‘We are excited about the challenge.’
The Blues will be looking to start our 2021/22 season on a high in Belfast by lifting the UEFA Super Cup trophy before facing Crystal Palace on Saturday.
‘We are going to try and be competitive,’ Emery added. ‘Chelsea have brought in international players.
‘I hope for a great game that gets the attention of the whole world.’
Ferdinand backs Blues for title
Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has tipped Chelsea to clinch the English Premier League title this 2021/22 season.
Speaking with Goal, the English international believes Chelsea has all the potentials to win the EPL title.
“The big clubs will all be making moves,’ he said. ‘Everyone will make moves, 100 percent.
“I think Chelsea, after doing what they have done in the Champions League. That will give the owner the right impetus to go again, which is exciting for the league.’
“Chelsea are going to be a big threat,’ he added. ‘I think the manager alone and the confidence of winning the Champions League, and what that means to his team, is huge if they invest in the right areas.”
