The Niger State Task Force on COVID-19 has applauded the support and understanding of the people of the State who have shown commitment and adhered strictly to the precautionary measures taken by Government towards the containment of Coronavirus disease in the State.
Chairman, Niger State Task Force on COVID-19 who is also Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane commended the people for their patience, dedication and perseverance in this trying moment of our history.

He explained that the State is yet to record any single case of an outbreak, but informed Nigerlites that the measures taken by Government became necessary in order to ensure that the virus does not find its way to the State.
Matane further noted with gratitude the effort of Nigerlites, Health workers, Journalists, Security Agencies and other emergency response team for their untiring commitment in ensuring that the precautionary measures put in place by Government against COVID-19 are well observed and urged them to sustain the tempo.
He called on people to maintain the social distancing by avoiding crowded areas such as clubs, bars, burial, marriage and naming ceremonies and all forms of gathering which are requisite measures to curb the spread of the pandemic that has become a global threat.
Ahmed Matane assured the citizens that Government is not resting on its oars towards addressing the emergency challenges been faced by the people as a result of measures taken by Government to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the State through the provision of palliatives to the vulnerable members of the society.

The SSG warned that the lackadaisical attitude of some people towards the pandemic will worsen the situation as the virus is real and can only be curtailed when all preventive measures are observed.
