Cristiano Ronaldo is determined to surpass Iranian’s Ali Daei record for a male international of 109 goals after scoring his 100 and 101 goals in Portugal’s Nations League victory over Sweden.
The Portuguese and Juventus forward became the first European player to reach the 100 international goals landmark after his latest heroics.
For the first, he fired in a superb opener from a resulting freekick into the top corner, after Sweden’s Gustav Svensson was sent off just before halftime for a second bookable offense.
The five time ballon d’or winner, who missed Portugal’s Nations League opener against Croatia on Saturday due to a toe injury, curled in a beautiful second from the edge of the penalty area.
“I managed to beat the milestone of 100 goals and now I’ll go for the record,” he said.
