As the people of Edo State gear up for the governorship elections, George Uboh, Chairman of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) has revealed some interesting things about Godwin Obaseki

As time progresses, more and more incontrovertible truths about the criminality, dictatorship and political highhandedness of Governor Godwin Obaseki keep surfacing and resurfacing.
Whereas, the fraudulent character of Obaseki is not in doubt, a recent revelation published by the George Uboh Whistleblower Network (GUWN) has further buttressed the criminal state of Obaseki, and most importantly revealed the exact reason why Obaseki has vehemently denied 14 members-elect of the Edo State House of Assembly from carrying out the democratic obligations that the people had elected them to carry out.
In a letter to the governor dated September 14, 2020, and signed by its Chairman, George Uboh, the GUWN exposed multiple dubious financial transactions by the Godwin Obaseki government, including payments for contracts, salaries, Value Added Tax and transfers running to billions of Naira.

The report unraveled numerous transfer made into 8-digit account running into Billions of Naira; numerous transfers in Billions of Naira from Edo State Government to General-Purpose accounts in different banks, including but not limited to Equatorial Trust Bank (which is not in operation), Access Bank, Sterling Bank etc; Billions of Naira in transfers to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) without being specific on the particular MDAs.
The GUWN did not stop there. The renowned investigative platform went further by equally reporting that Billions of Naira passed through Edo State Government to companies like A&K Construction without specifying the accounts of the companies, in other words, Obaseki released money to himself. Billions of Naira were also reportedly transferred in numerous tranches without account numbers and account names of the purported recipients, while Billions of Naira were released as salary from Edo State Government without specificity. The report added that, in August 2019 alone, N746,622,765 and N693,388,159 were moved under the narration salary from Edo State Government.
Summatively, the GUWN report revealed that Obaseki siphoned State Funds for the purpose of his re-electioneering bid, and in order to abundantly enjoy a smooth sailing in his sea of corruption, he deprived the 14 legislators-elect from discharging their statutory obligations, since he perceived the embattled 14 as threats to his ruthless covetousness. By his continuous impeding of the 14 assembly members, Obaseki has continued to violate his Oath of Office wherein he swore to “…not allow [his] personal interest to influence [his] official conduct or [his] official decisions.”
Not just that, Obaseki has violated the doctrine of rule of law and won for himself the disgraceful title of a desperate man who lacks respect for the electorates who voted the 14 distinguished legislators to power. Obaseki’s desperation was further laid before the world, when he, with heavily mobilized thugs and miscreants, desecrated the Edo State Assembly by removing the roof to prevent the 14 legislators from being sworn in. But like William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Obaseki will fall by his own very vices!

In the light of the above revelation by the George Uboh Whistleblower Network, it is no doubt that Obaseki has grossly looted and terribly injured our beloved Edo state. It is therefore important at this critical period to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and other relevant anti-corruption agencies to honour the adage which says that a society that visits crime with sanction will not only see its thirtieth generation, but will also have for them nourished bullocks as inheritance.
The good people of Edo State have refused to be thrown into extinction! We call for immediate sanctions against Obaseki! Obaseki has tabooed and he must be made to face the bitter consequences of his gluttony and power drunkenness!
