Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Friday, consented to the 2023 appointment bill of One hundred and 66 billion, 600 and 2,000,000, 400 and sixteen thousand, 700 and seventy naira (N166,602,4I6,770.00) passed by the State Place of Gathering.

Goldennewsng reports that when Governor Ugwuanyi signed the budget for 2023, he said that it was the “sequel to my presentation of the State’s 2023 budget proposal to the Enugu State House of Assembly on 15 December, 2022” process of appropriating funds for Enugu State’s business of governance in the year 2023.

The governor went on to say that his administration tagged with the help of the budget for 2023: The “Budget of Consolidation and Transition” aims to transfer the state’s governance to the new administration and consolidate its accomplishments in various areas.

Reiterating his administration’s readiness to begin the 2023 budget implementation in earnest on January 1, 2023, Governor Ugwuanyi expressed delight that the State House of Assembly gave the budget proposal prompt consideration and approval.

Governor Ugwuanyi begged God to “avail us the grace of substantial realization of the projected revenue in the 2023 budget as well as peaceful atmosphere for its diligent implementation,” stating that “this is also the last time I would be assenting to the full year budget of Enugu State as Governor, under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.”

He added, “Thank you to the State House of Assembly leadership and members for responding to the imperative of accelerating the budget’s consideration and approval.” I pay tribute to the dedicated Clerk and other House staff members, whose contributions to legislative business are priceless but largely unsung.

As a result, Governor Ugwuanyi wished the good people of Enugu State a prosperous new year and urged them to continue praying and maintaining peace.

Rt., Speaker of the State House of Assembly, earlier presented the approved budget for the governor’s approval. Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi called it “a wonderful and realistic budget,” pointing out that important areas like works, agriculture, education, health, and water resources received significant funding.

“It demonstrates that you (Ugwuanyi) are ready to complete all of the projects you started and the ones you promised the good people of Enugu State,” the statement reads. Your Excellency, it is a very commendable one. It shows that the financial plan is an extremely reasonable one,” he said.

The Speaker expressed, on behalf of his colleagues, gratitude to Governor Ugwuanyi for his unwavering support and exemplary leadership skills based on peace and good governance. He also emphasized that the legislators are thankful for the cordial working relationship they have had with the governor, members of the State Executive Council (EXCO), and other state government officials.

He went on to say, “On this note, Your Excellency, may I invite the Clerk of the House to join me to present to you the approved budget of N166,602,4I6,770.00 for your assent and for the benefit of the good people of Enugu State to the glory of God.”

Likewise present at the occasion were the Representative Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, other members of the State House of Assembly, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, Secretary to the State Government, former Chief of Staff and PDP candidate for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Festus Uzor, the Vice president of Staff, Government House, Enugu, Prof. Malachy Okwueze, the Official for Financial plan and Arranging, Dr. David Ugwunta and different individuals from the State Chief Board (EXCO), and the Representative of the House, Barr. Emmanuel Udaya, Dr.
