Liverpool midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum, has criticized Jurgen Klopp’s men for losing 1-0 against Burnley in the Premier League on Thursday night at Anfield.
Wijnaldum said Liverpool players were not sharp enough against Burnley, adding that they were struggling to score against the visitors.
Burnley ended Liverpool’s 68-match unbeaten home run, thanks to Ashley Barnes’ late penalty.
“A really tough one. Before the game, we had good intentions to play against Burnley,” Wijnaldum was quoted by Metro UK as saying after the game.
“We created enough to score a goal, but unfortunately, we couldn’t. We were not sharp enough, and they got the penalty.
“We had 100% chances. Now in the situation we are in, we are struggling to score. It is difficult to explain,” he said.
The defeat against Burnley means Liverpool are now in the fourth position on the Premier League table with 34 points from 19 matches.
The Premier League holders will face Manchester United in the FA Cup in their next fixture on Sunday.
