The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced the payment schedule for the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) 2025, offering renewed hope to thousands of young Nigerians in the agriculture and food sectors.

Managed by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, the programme aims to tackle youth unemployment, enhance food security, and support youth-led enterprises with non-repayable grants ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000.

YEIDEP 2025 Application Closed on May 31

The application portal for YEIDEP 2025 was closed on May 31, 2025. No late entries were accepted, and only those who completed their registration through the official platform are being considered for funding.

Important Programme Phases Before Disbursement

1. Bank Verification (June 1–8, 2025)

Partner banks commenced verification of applicants’ account details to ensure all shortlisted individuals submitted accurate and valid information. Incorrect bank data may lead to disqualification.

2. Engagement & Orientation (June 11–30, 2025)

Shortlisted applicants are currently being contacted for engagement sessions. These include:

  • Financial literacy and grant utilization training

  • Signing of grant agreements

  • Clarification on monitoring and accountability measures

Attendance at this stage is mandatory. Failure to participate will result in forfeiture of the grant.

YEIDEP Grant Disbursement Set for July 1–31, 2025

Successful applicants who complete the verification and engagement stages will begin receiving their grants between July 1 and July 31, 2025. Disbursement amounts will range from ₦50,000 to ₦500,000, depending on the approved business plan and proposed project scale.

Note: The YEIDEP grant is non-repayable, but misuse of the funds may result in sanctions, including recovery of the amount disbursed.

Who Is Eligible to Receive the YEIDEP Grant?

The programme specifically targets youth-owned businesses in agriculture and food-related sectors. Approved areas of support include:

  • Crop farming (e.g., rice, maize, cassava)

  • Livestock farming and aquaculture

  • Food processing and packaging

  • Small-scale food manufacturing

  • Sales and distribution of farm produce

Applicants whose businesses fall outside these categories are not eligible for funding under YEIDEP.

Programme Is Free – Beware of Scams

The Ministry of Youth Development has reiterated that YEIDEP is 100% free of charge. At no stage should applicants pay anyone for shortlisting, verification, or payment facilitation.

Attempts to bribe officials or engage with third-party “agents” may result in immediate disqualification.

“All shortlisted candidates are selected based on merit and application compliance. Any form of inducement will not be tolerated,” the Ministry emphasized.

What Shortlisted Candidates Should Do

  • Keep phones and emails active for updates

  • Attend all scheduled training and orientation sessions

  • Ensure bank details submitted remain unchanged and accurate

  • Adhere strictly to all official instructions from the Ministry or partner banks

A Strategic Push for Food Security and Youth Empowerment

YEIDEP 2025 represents a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future—empowering youth entrepreneurs while boosting national food production.

With over ₦500 million earmarked for disbursement, the programme is expected to strengthen youth-led agribusinesses and contribute significantly to local economic development.

As the July disbursement window draws near, applicants are advised to remain vigilant, responsive, and compliant with all programme requirements.
