The Federal Government has launched a website for the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates housing scheme, which aims to help civil servants and other Nigerians access affordable homes.
During the launch in Abuja, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa said that President Bola Tinubu has removed barriers to homeownership in Nigeria.
He said the government is committed to using technology and private sector initiatives to make it easier for Nigerians to own homes.
Dangiwa added that another major step has been taken towards achieving that promise with the launch of the Renewed Hope Housing Platform.
“From the exhaustive presentation by the developers, this innovative platform is groundbreaking. It provides an online, transparent, easy-to-use, integrated web-based application for the sale of homes under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme of the Ministry will be One-Stop Shop for housing delivery,” Dangiwa said.
Dangiwa explained that the platform includes a secure registration process with identity verification, allowing potential homeowners to search for properties using various filters to find homes that meet their needs.
“Buyers can also apply for the release of up to 25 percent of their RSA balance for additional financial support. It is clear that this is not the first time that the Ministry is building an online platform. What we are doing today does not mean that we are duplicating housing delivery systems,” he added.
He mentioned that “in December 2023, we signed an MoU with a consortium of developers led by Continental Civil to deliver 100,000 housing units nationwide. This platform is a key part of this partnership.”
Currently, there are Estates in 12 locations and 3 Cities across Nigeria. The Estates are located in Yobe, Gombe, Ebonyi, Abia, Nasarawa, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Katsina, Sokoto, Oyo, and Osun. The Cities are in Abuja, Kano, and Lagos.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Marcus Ogunbiyi, emphasized that the affordable housing initiative is not only for civil servants but for all Nigerians, including those living abroad, to facilitate housing projects in Nigeria.
National Consultants on Renewed Hope Cities and Estates, Damola Akindolire and Adetola Agagumma, highlighted that the project is a partnership between the Federal Government and companies like Continental Civil, General Construction Limited, and Ceezali Limited. Marketing partners include Qshelter and Quantum Agency Services Limited.
