Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted at least eight persons in Owukpa, a community in the Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The community’s National Chairman, Igoche Anthony, disclosed the development to journalists on Monday morning, noting that the attack happened on Sunday evening along the Atamka-Ugbugbu road.
The incident is said to have caused palpable tension in the area.
He identified the victims as Onyechi Onuh, John Ameh, Agnes Ikwuta and four others. He said they were ambushed by the assailants while returning from a local market in Ahor-Ogbo.
Anthony assured that efforts were on to ensure Ugbugbu and other adjoining communities were completely free from the incessant attacks by the criminal elements.
The State Police Command, however, has not issued any statement on the development.
