The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) is central to the process of admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Formed by act no. 2 of 1978, administered under the ministry of education. The board is responsible for ensuring that every student seeking admission into a Nigerian University, Polytechnic or College of Education has a valid registration number which makes the process of jamb regularization very important for students who missed out during their first attempt at jamb registration or have issues with their details. This article will explain step by step guide on how to do Jamb regularization – online and in JAMB offices as well as requirements, check status etc.

What is JAMB Regularization?

JAMB regularization validates/indexes your admission with JAMB allowing you to be confirmed by your school so that it can be admitted as one of them through admission. People who are compelled to regularize their jamb admissions include those who;

  1. Were admitted through other means like diploma, pre-degree or part-time program
  2. Did not receive jamb registration numbers and letters of admission initially
  3. Have wrong or incomplete record in jambs
  4. Are changing schools and courses

Completing jamb regularization enables persons to;

  • Have a reg. no. from jamb
  • Receive official letters for admissions from jamb
  • Switch courses and/or institutions when need arises.
  • Be part of the nysc program once they complete their tertiary institutions.

Requirements for JAMB Regularization:

  • To commence the process of JAMB regularization, you must meet these prerequisites:
  • O’Level Results: WAEC/WAEC GCE/NECO/NABTEB combination may be used.
  • Passport Photograph: A recent passport-sized photo.
  • Personal Details: Your full name, date of birth, sex, marital status, phone number, email address and home address.
  • Academic Details: These include details of your school such as matriculation number, year of matriculation, year of graduation and reason for not being in jamb list.
  • Previous JAMB Details: If applicable, provide your previous JAMB registration number and the year of enrollment.
  • Institutional Approval: For part-time students especially; a Jamb regularization application is incomplete without an endorsement from the head of institution or registrar.
