Requirements to Study Yoruba in Nigeria:
- To commence Yoruba studies in Nigeria, you must have a minimum of five (5) credits at the O’Level (WAEC or NECO), including English and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings. However, some schools may require a single sitting.
- By the end of October in the year of admission, you must have reached the age of sixteen (16).
- Attain the Yoruba cutoff score required by your chosen university.
- Possess strong results from JAMB, WAEC, and any post-UTME examinations.
Direct Entry Requirements to Study Yoruba in Nigeria:
- A maximum of two (2) sittings with a minimum of five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE).
- Hold a degree in a related discipline with a First Class or Second Class Upper.
- Direct entry candidates must obtain the Direct Entry form from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
- Possess an Advanced Level Certificate with a minimum Merit Pass in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), or any relevant Advanced Level Certificate.
- Any additional qualifications equivalent to the requirements stated in points (1) and (4) above, and accepted by the Senate of the chosen university. Candidates must also meet the Faculty/Departmental entry requirements in addition to the minimum admission requirements mentioned above.
