Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Application Form 2023

We understand that the high cost of tuition fees prevents many Nigerian youths from enrolling in tertiary institutions, affecting the overall education rate of the nation. However, there are scholarship schemes available, including the Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme, designed to alleviate this financial barrier. Keep reading for more details.

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board invites indigenous students of Lagos State studying in tertiary institutions nationwide to apply for either the Bursary or Scholarship Award for the 2023/2024 academic year. Application forms for both awards are now available for purchase.

The registration portal for this scholarship will open at midnight on Thursday, 1st June 2023, and will close at midnight on Friday, 30th June 2023. Interested individuals are advised to purchase the form and complete the registration before the deadline.

Scholarship Requirements:

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must provide the following:

  1. Certificate of Origin from an Oba or the Local Government Council
  2. Letter of Current Admission
  3. Student’s Identity Card
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Academic Certificates
  6. JAMB result slip
  7. Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) identification card
  8. Photocopy of the payment receipt
  9. Downloaded application form
  10. Any other supporting documents

Important Note: The Lagos State Scholarship Board is responsible for managing scholarships, bursaries, and related matters within the state. Applicants must be Lagos State indigenes studying in any tertiary institution across the country.

To complete the application process, applicants are required to pay a sum of N3,500.00 for the Local Scholarship online through the Lagos State Scholarship Board online registration portal: https://portal.lagosscholarship.org. After successful payment, applicants should fill out the online application form and submit it.

Shortlisted candidates will receive invitations via email and SMS text messages. Therefore, it is essential to provide valid phone numbers and personal email addresses during the application process.

Eligibility/Requirements:

Here are the eligibility criteria for the scholarship:

  • All applicants must have gained full-time admission into an accredited Nigerian tertiary institution.
  • Undergraduate applicants must meet the minimum CGPA requirements based on the institution’s grading scale.
  • Medical students have specific requirements based on their year of study.
  • Applicants must be in their second year or above.
  • LASRRA registration must be completed.
  • Applicants must obtain a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba and local government.
  • All applicants must purchase a Scholarship application form through the Revenue Office of the Lagos State Scholarship Board.
  • Clear scanned copies of all required documents must be uploaded to verify claims.
  • Shortlisted applicants must participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted by Dragnet Solutions Limited in collaboration with the Lagos State Scholarship Board.
  • Successful applicants will be contacted for an oral interview.

To register, follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://portal.lagosscholarship.org/ and click on “Continue Registration.”
  2. Fill in all the required details to start the application.
  3. Click on “Start Application.”
  4. A pop-up will display a generated pin; save the pin for future reference.
  5. Click on “Proceed.”
  6. Select the scholarship or bursary option and enter the generated pin.
  7. Click on “Continue.”
  8. Generate a Web GUID, which is a payment code for processing the payment. Save the code for reference.
  9. Click on “Proceed to Payment.”
  10. Make the payment using your preferred method, preferably through card payment.
  11. Click on “Proceed.”
  12. After completing the payment process, a successful page will be displayed.
  13. Click on the “Print Revenue Receipt” link to generate evidence of payment.
  14. Return to the Lagos State Scholarship Board homepage and click on “Payment Validator.”
  15. Enter your payment reference code (Web GUID).
  16. Click on “Generate Application ID.”
  17. A payment successful page will be displayed, indicating that your Application ID has been sent to your email and phone number.
  18. Continue filling out the forms to complete the registration for either the Bursary or Scholarship form.

Available Scholarships in Lagos State and their Worth:

  • Primary School Students: N50,000.00
  • Secondary School Students: N80,000.00
  • Technical College: N100,000.00
  • Polytechnics/Colleges of Education: N200,000.00
  • First Degree: N200,000.00
  • Master’s Degree: N300,000.00
  • Doctorate Degree: N400,000.00

Computer-Based Test (CBT) Date, Time, and Venue:

The Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) will announce the date, time, and venue for the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the 2023/2024 academic year. Successful applicants will receive an email and/or SMS notification one week before the test from Dragnet Solutions.

Important Note: There will be no makeup tests.

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
