IGP visits Imo, orders use of ‘maximum force’ on IPOB members

Mohammed Adamu, inspector-general of police (IGP), has vowed to clamp down on members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who he said carried out the attack on the Imo police command headquarters.

Muhammed made the vow on Tuesday when he visited the command headquarters which was attacked alongside the federal prison in Owerri, the state capital.

GoldwenNewsNg gathered that  the facilities were attacked by gunmen who freed over 1,500 prisoners in the early hours of Monday.

Some police vehicles were also razed in the incident which the IGP said was masterminded by IPOB.

Emma Powerful, IPOB spokesman, had said that they have no hand in Monday’s attacks in Imo but the police disagree with the claim.

There’ll Never Be Biafra Again, Says Buhari’s Aide, Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said there will never be the Republic of Biafra again.

She stated this on Monday following the reported attack on the Imo State Police Command headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Prison, which led to the release of over 1,800 inmates and the destruction of scores of vehicles and state assets.

The former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had accused operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of being the masterminds behind the attacks.

After the incident, Onochie tweeted a video showing the then Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, receiving the then Biafran Vice President, Major General Philip Effiong, who facilitated the surrender of the Biafran State to Nigeria in 1970.

Effiong had assumed leadership of the secessionist state after the Biafran leader, Colonel Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, fled to Cote D’Ivoire in the heat of the civil war.

She captioned the video, “Relief on the faces of Philip Effiong 2nd in command to Ojukwu & his men as they surrender says #NeverAgainBiafra

“The joy on d face of d then Head of state Yakubu Gowon says, #OneNigeria.

“The very day nails were put in the coffin of #Biafra There’ll never be Biafra again, Never!”

IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu speaks after attacks on security facilities in Imo

Nnamdi Kanu in a tweet claimed that prisoners should be freed “If Miyetti Allah terror herdsmen, other murderous #Fulani groups, including Boko Haram insurgents, can be arrested, freed and rehabilitated by this neo-colonial Fulanised Nigeria President.”

The IPOB leader said, “no single soul deserves to be in any prison in Nigeria.”

The Imo State Police Command headquarters and SCID building situated in the state  capital were also attacked in the early morning raid, which a security source said started around 1 am.

IPOB denies responsibility over attack on police headquarters in Imo

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from Monday’s attacks on Police and Correctional Service headquarters in Imo.

Its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said in a statement issued in Owerri on Monday that the group was formed on the principle of peace and would not compromise its principles.

It would also not attack government’s facilities, he stated.

“The attention of IPOB has been drawn to the fallacious and fabricated reports that it is involved in the attack of prison and police headquarters in Imo.

“IPOB and Eastern Security Network (ESN) are known groups, not unknown gunmen. ESN is in the bush chasing terrorists and have no business with the said attacks.

“We were not involved in the attack in Owerri and the recent attack on Onitsha-Owerri road at Ukwuorji junction.

“It is not our mandate to attack security personnel or prison facilities,’’ he stated.

Lamentation over Ebonyi massacre: ‘Good morning, you woke late,’ IPOB mocks Umahi

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has mocked Gov. David Umahi over his lamentation on the massacre of locals by herdsmen, saying that the governor is waking up to realities rather too late.
IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, said Umahi and other South East governors ignored the warnings by its Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu about the hidden agenda of Fulani herders in the zone.

The pro-Biafra movement accused Umahi of shedding” crocodile tears” when they failed to take proactive measures to avert the mayhem.

The statement read in part: “When our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was warning you people, you called him a miscreant.
” You and your fellow Igbo Leaders hurriedly outlawed IPOB, a peaceful movement and prepared the ground for the federal government to tag us terrorists.
” Igbo Leaders approved Operation Python Dance that claimed many innocent Igbo youths. Thank God for the miraculous escape of our Leader, otherwise the vampires would have drank with his skull.
“When our Leader set up Eastern Security Network, ESN, following the failure of the weak South East governors to protect the people, instead of supporting him you connived with the federal government to hunt down our men staking their lives to protect our ancestral land.
“Now that the Fulani you hated your brothers to protect have risen to kill your subjects in return, face them like men and stop lamenting like women.
Why shed crocodile tears? They are your friends and One Nigeria brothers! “Why haven’t you ordered for their arrest the same way you governors approved of the onslaught against our men at Orlu?
You hate your own and protect your enemy. “Clean your tears and live with your One Nigeria brothers. Stop lamenting. We warned you but you took us for fools because of your political ambition.”

Ex-AIG, Aisabor says IPOB is gathering weapons to fight war with FG

A retired Assistant Inspector of Police, Ambrose Aisabor, has said secession group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is stockpiling weapons by attacking and looting security formations.

According to report, the group aims to achieve the Biafra Republic by engaging in war with the Nigerian government

Revealed: How IPOB is Gathering Arms to Fight Biafra War with FG, Ex-police boss

He said:

“If you look at it, they are not attacking ordinary people. They are attacking the police, the army, and the air force that is what they are doing.

“Why they are attacking those military formations is because they want to have enough ammunition to enable them prosecute their war against the government of Nigeria. They want to have their own police; they want to have their own armoury and so on.

Chairman of the Code of Conduct risks five-year jail term over ‘ Biafra boys ’ comment -Falana

GoldenNewsNg gathered that the Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), says the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, risks five years in prison over his comment on ‘Biafra boys’.

Falana said this in a statement on Saturday.

The CCT chairman was last Monday caught on video allegedly assaulting a security guard at Banex Plaza, Abuja.

In a statement issued by the CCT, it was claimed that the chairman was the one that was attacked by some ‘Biafra boys’ at Banex.

The comment sparked an outrage on social media with many describing the statement as being laced with bigotry.

Reacting in a statement, Falana said the use of the word was in contravention of Section 26 of the Cybercrimes Act 2015.

It read in part, “The use of the word ‘Biafra boys’ in the statement (produced through a computer system or network) on the instructions of the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal and distributed to the media last week constitutes a contravention of Section 26 of the Cybercrimes Act 2015 which prohibits the use of racist or xenophobic material in any written or printed material which advocates, promotes or incites hatred, discrimination or violence, against any individual group of individuals, based on race, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, as well as religion if used as a pretext for any of these factors.
