There’ll Never Be Biafra Again, Says Buhari’s Aide, Onochie
Lauretta Onochie, Senior Special Assistant on Social Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said there will never be the Republic of Biafra again.
She stated this on Monday following the reported attack on the Imo State Police Command headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Prison, which led to the release of over 1,800 inmates and the destruction of scores of vehicles and state assets.
The former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had accused operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) of being the masterminds behind the attacks.
After the incident, Onochie tweeted a video showing the then Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, receiving the then Biafran Vice President, Major General Philip Effiong, who facilitated the surrender of the Biafran State to Nigeria in 1970.
Effiong had assumed leadership of the secessionist state after the Biafran leader, Colonel Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, fled to Cote D’Ivoire in the heat of the civil war.
She captioned the video, “Relief on the faces of Philip Effiong 2nd in command to Ojukwu & his men as they surrender says #NeverAgainBiafra

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from Monday’s attacks on Police and Correctional Service headquarters in Imo.
Its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said in a statement issued in Owerri on Monday that the group was formed on the principle of peace and would not compromise its principles.
It would also not attack government’s facilities, he stated.
“The attention of IPOB has been drawn to the fallacious and fabricated reports that it is involved in the attack of prison and police headquarters in Imo.
“IPOB and Eastern Security Network (ESN) are known groups, not unknown gunmen. ESN is in the bush chasing terrorists and have no business with the said attacks.

Chairman of the Code of Conduct risks five-year jail term over ‘ Biafra boys ’ comment -Falana
GoldenNewsNg gathered that the Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), says the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, risks five years in prison over his comment on ‘Biafra boys’.
Falana said this in a statement on Saturday.
The CCT chairman was last Monday caught on video allegedly assaulting a security guard at Banex Plaza, Abuja.
In a statement issued by the CCT, it was claimed that the chairman was the one that was attacked by some ‘Biafra boys’ at Banex.
The comment sparked an outrage on social media with many describing the statement as being laced with bigotry.
Reacting in a statement, Falana said the use of the word was in contravention of Section 26 of the Cybercrimes Act 2015.
It read in part, “The use of the word ‘Biafra boys’ in the statement (produced through a computer system or network) on the instructions of the chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal and distributed to the media last week constitutes a contravention of Section 26 of the Cybercrimes Act 2015 which prohibits the use of racist or xenophobic material in any written or printed material which advocates, promotes or incites hatred, discrimination or violence, against any individual group of individuals, based on race, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, as well as religion if used as a pretext for any of these factors.
