The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the mandatory use of the National Identification Number (NIN) for candidates applying for non-regular programmes in Nigerian tertiary institutions as part of its 2025 registration requirements. This directive aims to combat fraudulent activities and enhance the integrity of candidate records.

The mandate applies to applicants for programmes such as the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Distance Learning, Part-Time, and Sandwich courses. Candidates must create a profile code by sending their NIN through their unique phone number to either of JAMB’s designated shortcodes, 55019 or 66019, before proceeding with registration.
