N-Power recruits 27,000 Imo youths
Beneficiaries of the N-Power scheme in Imo State have staged a sensitisation rally in support of the Federal Government’s effort in fighting insecurity in the country.
Clutching placards in support of the Federal Government’s programme, the beneficiaries who marched round Owerri, the state capital, said but for the N-Power programme, crimes would have increased in the country.
Spokesperson for the beneficiaries, Williams Ugbo, said 27,000 people had benefited from N-Power and other social investment programmes of the Federal Government in the state, adding that the social investment programme was fighting unemployment and reducing poverty in the country.
The youths, who danced round major streets in a motorcade, however, appealed to the government to provide them with soft loans to enable them to either start or expand their businesses.
Two other N-Power beneficiaries, Emmanuel Ajah and Chioma Onyebiri, who said the scheme had changed their lives positively, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for lifting them out of poverty.
Npower: Blacklisted For Loan With A Bank
Following the recent CBN covid-19 loan disbursement, GoldenNewsNg gathered that some Exited Npower beneficiaries have been blacklisted from benefiting from the CBN loan
An Exited Npower beneficiary Wrote :
Hello everyone.
I went for a loan today in my bank(gtbank) and i was told i have been blacklisted for a Quick Credit loan and the reason was simply given as NPower. Yeah i was a beneficiary but not anymore for over a year. The reason might b they r profiling us for a wt cbn but even at that, blacklisting is extremely wrong. We all have lives outside npower especially now that it appears not have impact anymore. Some of us run little business that requires loan n this blacklisting is killing it.
CBN needs to look into this.GTBank (Quick Credit) only give loans to employees or individuals with salary accounts. You were blacklisted because you’re no longer an employee of NPower.
GTB Quick credit loans are based on designated/consistent monthly receipts from your employer (business account), even if it’s 5k monthly. If you don’t have this, then you’re not qualified for the loan.
In sum, you were blacklisted because you tried to apply for a loan knowing very well that you no longer have a job (NPower).
That being said the word “blacklisted” doesn’t sound right though. May be you should upload a screenshot of GTB’s feedback so people can advise appropriately.
