GoldenNewsNg gathered that the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has announced Senate President Ahmed Lawan as APC consensus candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primary election slated for Tuesday.
Adamu made the announcement at the meeting of National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday in Abuja.
Other aspirants including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Dr. Kayode Fayemi and David Umahi, among others will however be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding tomorrow at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

GoldenNewsNg gathered that the Presidential Aspirant Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid a condolence visit to Ondo state over the recent killing of innocent Catholic worshippers and pledged N75million to the victims of the Owo attack.
While expressing his condolences, Tinubu, in the company of the state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, visited the palace of Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, and said N50m out of the donation would go to the victims of the incident, while the other N25m will go to the Catholic Church.
Announcing the donation, Akeredolu said, “Our leader is donating N50 million to take care of the victims, and an additional donation of 25 million will go to the Catholic Church for the victims and every other thing.”
However, the action has sparked mixed reactions among Netizens with some insinuating that he probably orchestrated the act for as a campaign strategy.
2023: Gov Umahi ‘Reveals Consensus Plan’ By APC Presidential Aspirants
The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Monday stated that the All Progressives Congress would not run its presidential primary the same way the Peoples Democratic Party held its primary.
There were rumours that presidential aspirants induced delegates across the country with funds to attract their votes.
The presidential aspirant while speaking on the presidential primary of the ruling party said he believes consensus-building has been part of the APC.
Umahi stated this while speaking on Channels TV on Monday morning.
He revealed the agreement presidential aspirants under the ruling party had during screening about consensus.
Tinubu Storms Owo In Ondo Amid APC Presidential Primaries
2023 Presidential aspirant and the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, stormed Owo in Ondo State to commiserate with victims of the St Francis Catholic Church gunmen attacks.
GoldenNewsNg gathered that the Presidential hopeful was in Abuja earlier with other APC stakeholders and presidential aspirant as the party begin its presidential primaries today.
The APC national leader commiserated with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the families of the victims of the attack and indeed the people of Owo and Ondo State. He urged the police and security agencies to do all that is within their power to investigate the attack and apprehend the wicked perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Tinubu left delegates, chieftains and other members of the APC that had arrived in Abuja for the party’s presidential primary, for Ondo State.
He met with the State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, traditional rulers particularly the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, and others, to sympathise with them over the development.

Goldennewsng reports that former Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural resources in Jigawa State, Rabiu Isah Taura has picked the senatorial ticket for New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in the Jigawa North-West zone.
Taura won the party’s senatorial ticket unopposed at the primary election held in Gumel town.
He is the North-West zonal chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP and had held the position in PDP before his move to NNPP.

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Shehu Sani has thrown a shade at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and President Muhammadu Buhari.
The former lawmaker hinted that there is likely indecision on the part of the APC and Presidential Buhari on how to choose the party’s presidential candidate for 2023 without going into a full fledged election at the primaries.
The President and the APC leadership have recommended the intensification of consultation and consensus building to reduce the number of aspirants as it begins its convention which runs from Monday, June 6 to Wednesday, June 8, 2022, GoldenNewsNg reports.
Though the presidency on Sunday refuted viral reports that the President has backed the zoning of the APC ticket to the south, it confirmed President Buhari has told the Governors to work on producing a consensus candidate.
However, Sani said both Buhari and the APC leadership including State Governors are pushing the responsibility of a possible consensus candidate to one another.
Benue APC Debunk Guber Primaries Nullification, Says It’s Fake News
Benue state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday debunked the publication circulating on the social media that the governorship appeal panel of the APC for the state has nullified the primaries.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary Daniel Ihomun, in a statement, described the report as fake, malicious and contorted.
The statement said an appeal panel by a political party lacks the power to cancel any primary election, so the purported report is fake and has no substance.

Okechukwu Mocks Atiku As APC Northern Govs Back Southern Presidency
The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, has mocked Atiku Abubakar over his emergence as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Okechuku said Atiku’s chances of winning the 2023 elections have been ruined after ten Northern All Progressives Congress Governors backed the quest for Southern Presidency.
The APC chieftain made this known in a statement issued on Sunday in Enugu State.
He commended the governors for supporting the zoning of the APC presidential ticket to the South, stating that their action is patriotic and honorable.
Okechukwu also mocked the PDP for jettisoning its zoning arrangement and refusing to zone its presidential ticket to the South.
2023: Shina Peller Speaks On Dumping APC
The lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa in the House of Representatives, Shina Peller has denied dumping the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2023 general election.
Peller cleared the air in a statement released through his media aide, Kola Popoola on Sunday.
The lawmaker further stated that he remains a member of the APC until he announces his defection on his social media platforms.
The visit of Peller, who lost the Oyo North Senatorial ticket, to a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Adebisi Olopoeyan, last week triggered speculations that he had dumped the APC.
2023: Kwankwaso’s NNPP Is No Match For APC In Kano – Ganduje
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is no match for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections in the state.
The governor mocked his predecessor and former principal, Rabiu Kwankwaso over the formation of the new party and his chances of winning any election in the state.
Ganduje boasted that Kwankwaso and the NNPP do not pose any threat to the chances of the ruling party both at the federal and state level in the 2023 elections.
Governor Ganduje made these known in an interview on a political programme on Television Continental (TVC) on Sunday.
According to the governor, the constant movement of Kwankwaso between political parties has seen him lose a lot of his supporters and followers.
Ganduje claimed that he is not worried about the poaching of some political heavyweights from the APC into the NNPP.

2023: Galadima Speaks On ‘Agreement’ For Tinubu To Take Over From Buhari
Nigerian politician and elder statesman, Buba Galadima said there was an understanding that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu would emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for 2023.
Galadima claimed that there was a gentleman’s agreement with Tinubu to become the next leader of the country after President Muhammadu Buhari.
The elder statesman said it was agreed during the formation of APC in 2014 that if the former Lagos governor would help Buhari win the 2015 general elections, he would become the Vice-President.
Galadima stated that Tinubu however failed to emerge as Buhari’s running mate in 2015 because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket. He added that the former Lagos governor instead nominated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He claimed that it was agreed at a meeting held in 2014 that if Buhari becomes President and finishes his tenure, he would ensure that Tinubu become his successor.
2023: I’ll Defeat Atiku Before 2pm On Election Day – Yahaya Bello
A presidential aspirant and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has vowed to defeat Atiku Abubakar before 2pm on election day if he emerges as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bello boasted that he has the formula to defeat Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
GoldenNewsNg understands that the APC, under which governor Bello is seeking to clinch the number one political office in the country, is set to conduct its presidential primary election this week.
The ruling party had scheduled to hold its convention at the Eagle Square in Abuja between Monday and Wednesday, June 6-8, 2022.

2023: Northern APC Youths Protest 11 Governors’ Decision To Concede Power To South
The decision by 11 Northern governors to concede power to the southern part of the country has been criticized by a coalition of northern youth groups of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
APC Progressives Youth Elements and the APC North-East Youth Forum protested in Bauchi on Sunday, claiming that the governors were selfish in agreeing to give power to the south.
During the protest, the youths were seen holding placards with various inscriptions such as “It’s North or Nothing”, “We are not in support of power shift to South”, “We will not accept the decision of eleven governors”, “It’s in their selfish interest”.
Speaking with newsmen, President of APC Progressives Youth Elements, Alamin Bala Mai’auduga, said that it’s not time for the South to rule the country.
