UTME: Bulk registration unacceptable — JAMB

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned school proprietors against bulk registration of candidates for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB accused the schools of collecting exorbitant amounts of money for candidates’ registration for the UTME, urging to desist from such act to avoid unnecessary sanctions from JAMB.

It maintained that it does not accept
bulk registration as other examination bodies, notably, NABTEB, NECO or WAEC do, meaning that JAMB only deals directly with individual candidates.

JAMB, in its weekly bulletin released on Monday, said It has discovered that most of the problems encountered by a category of candidates, including some products of elitist secondary schools, are traceable to group registration adopted, which invariably leads to a mismatch of candidates data.

This online news platform understands that the information which was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday, indicated that the sting operations were conducted across four States, namely, Kwara, Kogi, Katsina and Enugu, by JAMB officials….

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said the ongoing 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise scheduled to end on 26th March, 2022 would not be extended.

This is because the time scheduled for the registration exercise from 19th February, to 26th March, 2022, is the only window allotted by relevant authorities to the board to conduct the exercise, says JAMB spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

He said registration and examination dates are not fixed arbitrarily but through a consensus of opinions of the Federal Ministry of Education and examination agencies.

“Hence, before the commencement of registration or examination for any given year, all public examination bodies are invited to a roundtable where they are expected to agree on the timetable of activities for each examination agency and which must be strictly adhered to.

Vendors would be held accountable for any infractions committed by these agents. According to the board, erring centres and ePIN vendors or their agents found wanting would be severely punished to serve as a deterrent to would-be infractors.

The examination body said that they are happy with the huge level of progress of the exercise nationwide which has been very smooth and seamless.

It stated that because of that, it is on course to meet its daily target of 100,000 registrations despite the minor disruptions witnessed in some of these registration centres.

According to NAN, this was made known by the JAMB’s Registrar, Professor Is’haq Oloyede, while monitoring the registration exercise in some centres on Friday, in Lagos.

2022 UTME: JAMB Announces New Date For Mock Exams

GoldenNewsNg reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has informed that the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock papers will now be held on April 9 as against the earlier scheduled date, April 16.

JAMB made this known in its weekly bulletin from the Office of the Registrar on Monday in Abuja.

The board said the change was due to the realisation that April 16, earlier scheduled, was an Easter Saturday, a holy Saturday celebrated by Christians to mark the end of the Lent period before Easter Sunday.

JAMB also said the date for the exercise had also been affected by the shift in date for the registration of the UTME and Direct Entry (DE), which was earlier scheduled for February 12 but later commenced on February 19.

It, however, urged all candidates who registered and would want to sit for the mock exercise to note the change of date and be prepared.

The 2022 UTME registration commenced on Saturday, February 19 and is expected to end on March 26.

The exam has, however, been scheduled by JAMB to be held from May 6 to May 16.
