Lionel Messi has jetted back to Paris from Argentina with his family after testing negative for Covid.
The 34-year-old Argentine legend was spotted boarding a plane at Rosario International Airport on Wednesday night with his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their three kids. He is expected to touch down in France shortly to rejoin his Paris Saint-Germain teammates in training.
The club confirmed on Sunday he was one of four players who had tested positive for coronavirus after he missed travelling with fellow stars Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes back to the French capital.
The seven-times Ballon d’Or winner headed to Argentina with them on December 23 to spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve with his family in his hometown of Rosario.
Before testing positive, Messi and his wife were filmed singing and dancing at a private party after returning to Argentina for the festive season.
Reports on Tuesday said Messi was asymptomatic and ‘felt good’.
The same night the superstar met famous Argentinian DJ Fer Palacio. He later posted his negative Covid result online after being blamed for Messi’s positive test.
Palacio said he took the decision after being called an ‘assassin’ by social media haters.
