About UNIUYO

The full name of Uniuyo is the University of Uyo. It is a federal university. This means it is owned by the Nigerian government. The university is located in Uyo, which is the capital city of Akwa Ibom State. Akwa Ibom is in the southern part of Nigeria. Many people like to study in Uniuyo because it is one of the best universities in Nigeria.

The school started a long time ago as a college. It was later changed into a university by the government. Since then, the school has been growing very fast. There are now many departments and faculties. Every year, thousands of students apply to study at Uniuyo.

There are different types of courses in the university. Some are art courses, some are commercial courses, and some are science courses. In this post, we will focus only on the science courses.

Why Choose Uniuyo

One of the main reasons why people choose Uniuyo is because it is a federal university. That means the school fees are cheaper compared to private universities. Many students can afford it.

Also, Uniuyo has good teachers who know what they are teaching. The lecturers are serious and want students to learn well. The university also has many science labs and tools to help students who want to study science.

Another reason why people choose Uniuyo is because of the school environment. The place is neat and peaceful. Students feel safe when they are in school. There are also hostels where students can stay and focus on their studies.

The university is known for doing things the right way. Their results are always ready on time, and their academic calendar is not always disturbed like in some other schools. This makes it easy for students to plan their lives.

Lastly, many people who graduated from Uniuyo are doing well in life. This shows that the school prepares students very well for the future. If you go to Uniuyo, you can also do well after school.

These are the science courses you can find in Uniuyo right now. Some courses may be added or removed in the future. But this list is correct for 2025.

If you want to study any of the above courses, you must also know the subjects to write in your JAMB and how to apply. We will talk about that next.

Jamb Requirements

JAMB is very important for getting into any university in Nigeria. You must write JAMB and get a good score. For Uniuyo, the JAMB cut off mark is usually 180 and above. But some courses need higher scores, especially courses like medicine, nursing, and pharmacy.

When you are choosing your subjects in JAMB, make sure you choose the correct subjects for your course. If you choose the wrong subjects, you may not be given admission even if your score is high.

For most science courses in Uniuyo, you must choose English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. But the four subjects you choose for JAMB will depend on the course you want to study.

Let me explain with some examples.

If you want to study medicine, your JAMB subjects should be English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

If you want to study computer science, your JAMB subjects should be English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or Biology.

If you want to study biochemistry, your JAMB subjects should be English, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.

If you want to study geology, you should choose English, Chemistry, Physics, and either Biology or Mathematics.

If you want to study agricultural science, then your subjects can be English, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and either Physics or Mathematics.

It is always good to check the JAMB brochure before you choose your subjects. This will help you avoid mistakes.

Apart from JAMB, you must also write the Uniuyo Post UTME. This is another exam done by the school to test the students who applied. You must also pass this exam well to get admission.

How To Apply For Uniuyo

To apply for admission into Uniuyo, you need to follow some steps. The first step is to register for JAMB and choose Uniuyo as your first choice. Make sure you choose the correct course and the correct school.

After writing JAMB and getting your result, wait for the school to announce the Post UTME form. The school will say when the form is out on their website and in newspapers. You must buy the form, fill it, and submit it before the deadline.

After that, you will be told the date of your Post UTME exam. Make sure you prepare well and do your best. The exam usually includes subjects related to your course, and also some English and mathematics questions.

When the results are out, the school will also release the admission list. If your name is there, then congratulations. You will then go on to pay your acceptance fee and start your registration.

Make sure you have all the important documents. Some of the documents you need are:

• Your JAMB result

• Your Post UTME result

• Birth certificate

• School certificate (like WAEC or NECO)

• Local government letter of origin

• Passport photographs

• JAMB admission letter

• Other documents the school may ask for

When you are done with registration, you can now start classes. Try to attend all your classes, do your assignments, and prepare well for exams.

If you do well in Uniuyo, you can become anything you want in the future.

Conclusion

The University of Uyo is one of the best places to study science in Nigeria. The school has many science courses that you can choose from. Whether you like biology, chemistry, mathematics, or any other science subject, you will find a good course for yourself at Uniuyo.

If you have a dream of becoming a doctor, a nurse, a pharmacist, a scientist, or any professional in the science field, Uniuyo is a good place to start. Try to study hard and do your best. The future is bright if you are ready to work for it.
