Manchester United target Dayot Upamecano could decide his future as early as the winter.
Bild claims that the RB Leipzig star has a £40million release clause in his contract.
Man United target Dayot Upamecano has a £40m release clause and expects offers in January,
The defender who is 22, is anticipating several offers after impressing for RB Leipzeg.
Upamecano has already clocked up 118 games for Leipzig and helped them to last season’s Champions League semis.
He is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising centre-backs and has also earned three caps for World Cup holders France, even scoring against Croatia in September.
Man United are known to be big fans of Dayot Upamecano and it was reported last summer that man united did their best in getting the defender to Old Trafford, also the Reds, Liverpool are also looking to get him to come sort our their defensive woes.
Moreover, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly eager to splash the cash on a centre half after a wishy washy early season start.
Phil Jones and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are apparently on their way out of Old Trafford this January, with doubts over the Ivorian and injured Eric Bailly.
And Upamecano would be an ideal fit to play alongside captain Harry Maguire.
Man United have also been boosted by claims that even at £40m, Upamecano is still too expensive for long-term suitors and German giants Bayern Munich.
That’s despite him being tipped to join the Bavarian giants by former coach Ralf Rangnick earlier this week.
Should Man United fail to get their hands on Dayot Upamecano, they are also believed to be monitoring Borussia Dortmund’s highly-rated Dan-Axel Zagadou who is also a fast rising defender as well.
But with Upamecano proving his worth on both the domestic and continental stage, while also being available for a fixed price, he could be the more likely of the two to move to Manchester.
Based on Man United poor defending start to the season, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer would want to bring in Upamecano to bring has ability to the shaky defense.
