Amid security reports from the Department of Security Service, DSS, and criticism from Nigerians on APC Muslim-Muslim tickets, Bola Tinubu has gone ahead to unveil Kashim Shettima as his vice-presidential candidate come 2023 general election.
Goldennewsng reports that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, clinched the presidential ticket of his party, All Progressive Congress, APC, in June after defeating vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, senate president, Ahmed Lawan, and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi.
The journey of picking a vice-presidential candidate, however, became a big task for Tinubu because of the factors of tribe and religion.
Bola Tinubu settled for Kashim Shettima, a two-term former governor of Borno State, who is linked to the Boko-Haram terrorist group.
The picking of Shettima was condemned by the Department of Security Service, DSS, Nigeria’s internal intelligence agency.
According to the report by Peoples Gazette, DSS said Tinubu’s pick of Shettima as running mate will embolden attacks on Christians in the country.
DSS maintained that the choice of Shettima will burden the security work, stating that the country is not ready for Muslim-Muslim tickets.
Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday, (today), unveiled Shettima as his official running mate for the 2023 general election.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s former Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, disclosed this through his Twitter handle.
Bashir Ahmad, said, “Our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), unveils Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate of our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he tweeted.
