NPC News Today 13th April 2023 : NPC postpones training for enumerators, supervisors
NPC News Today 13th April 202
The National Population Commission (NPC) announced on Wednesday that the training for enumerators and supervisors, which was initially scheduled for April 13, has been postponed indefinitely. Dr. Ipalibo Harry, the Chairman of the Census Committee, made the announcement and clarified that the delay would not affect the upcoming population and housing census, which is set to take place from May 3 to 7.
According to Dr. Harry, the commission is fully prepared to conduct a credible census, and they have already completed the training of quality data managers and other essential personnel. He further stated that a new date for the training of enumerators and supervisors will be announced as soon as possible.
It is essential to note that the postponement of the training for enumerators and supervisors is a necessary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved in the census exercise, given the current global health situation. The NPC remains committed to conducting a successful census exercise, and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure its success.
NPC Has Revealed that the 2023 Census will be Nigeria’s Best Ever
The National Population Commission (NPC) has announced its plans to conduct the best-ever census in Nigeria’s history in 2023. The Federal Commissioner of the NPC in Gombe State, Mr Abubakar Danburam, stated that the upcoming census would be the best ever due to the digitalisation of the exercise and the efforts made by the commission so far. Danburam explained that the NPC had leveraged technology and a modern approach to conducting the census, which would make the 2023 exercise an improvement on previous ones conducted by the commission.
According to Danburam, the NPC’s priority is to conduct an accurate, reliable, and acceptable census, which is vital for development planning and other interventions to improve citizens’ wellbeing. The 2023 census will address irregularities associated with previous exercises, he added.
Speaking on the demarcation process, Danburam said the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) was the foundation of the current census, and every part of the country had been demarcated meticulously and neatly using satellite images. He noted that this process would make the upcoming census digital, and hopefully, the best-ever conducted in Nigeria.
Inaugurating the 16-man Advocacy and Logistics Committee for the 2023 Population and Housing Census in Gombe State, the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Manassah Jatau, who doubles as the committee chairman, advised the commission to take proactive measures to prevent the threat of manipulation during the exercise. Jatau expressed confidence that the digital census would eliminate bottlenecks such as political, religious, and cultural sentiments associated with the accurate census in the country over the years.
He also urged the committee members to enlighten, sensitize, and gain the support of Gombe State residents for the successful conduct of the census in May. With the NPC’s efforts and technology-driven approach, the 2023 census is expected to provide vital information about the socio-economic variables of Nigeria’s population.
All Applicants should Download Android Application for Enumerators and Supervisors Now
An Android application, called Census Pad (Nigeria), is now available for download by all census workers. This app will be essential for all activities related to the upcoming census.
However, it’s important to note that users will not be able to activate their profile until authorized by the department in charge.
This will only be possible once the population census has started. It’s also crucial to be cautious when downloading the app from Playstore, as there may be similar-looking applications. The Census Pad (Nigeria) is the only authorized app for the census.
