NPower Update : Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Assume Office, Gives Hope for Poor Nigerians.
Dr. Betta Chimaobim Edu is the new leader of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Nigeria. She started her role on Monday at the ministry’s main office in Abuja. Her arrival brings hope to 136 million poor people in Nigeria.
This news comes from an official statement signed by Rhoda Iliya, the Deputy Director of Information at the Ministry. Dr. Edu has officially changed the name of the ministry from “Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development” to “Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.”
The reason for this change is to make people in Nigeria feel happier and more supported. Dr. Edu has promised that during the first term of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they will work hard to address the problem of poverty in the country.
Dr. Edu mentioned that President Tinubu really cares about reducing poverty and giving hope to Nigerians. She thinks that having 136 million poor people out of over 200 million total Nigerians is a big concern and not acceptable to President Tinubu.
Dr. Edu wants to focus on helping those who are struggling the most and giving them hope. She also wants to be honest and clear about the ministry’s actions and plans. She told the ministry’s employees that she is a good team player, listens well, and is open to hearing from everyone. She asked for the support of the staff and all the people involved to achieve President Tinubu’s goal of lifting 136 million people out of poverty.
Dr. Edu is determined to make the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation one of the best ministries in Nigeria. The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, who handed over the role to Dr. Edu, mentioned that it’s a nice coincidence that she started on August 21, which is also the ministry’s 4th anniversary. He thanked President Tinubu for choosing a strong woman to lead the ministry. He assured Dr. Edu of the full support from the ministry’s management and staff to achieve her mission.
