The Ondo State Government has approved N350 million for its 2025 scholarship and bursary scheme, supporting approximately 12,000 students across higher institutions in Nigeria. The beneficiaries include medical and law students, as well as students with disabilities.

In a statement released in Akure, Chief Press Secretary Ebenezer Adeniyan explained that this marks an increase from the N335 million distributed to 11,200 students in 2024. The state had also raised the annual bursary allowance from N10,000 to N20,000, with students with disabilities receiving N75,000 each and scholarship recipients getting N100,000 each.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasized that education is the cornerstone of development and that the initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens so students can focus on their studies. He described the awards as proof of his government’s commitment to education and inclusive professional development.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen education funding in Ondo State, ensuring young people have the support needed to achieve their academic and career goals.
