Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has referred to the All Progressives Congress, or APC, and the People’s Democratic Party, or PDP, as dead political parties that no longer have anything positive to offer the nation.
Goldennewsng reports that the disclosure was made by Kwankwaso when he paid a visit to Ado-Ekiti as part of his campaign tour of the Southwest of the country in preparation for the general elections in February 2023.
In a speech delivered at the Palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe, he lambasted both political parties for what he referred to as poor leadership and the economic issue. He also stated that the nation has been let down by the two major political parties.
The former Governor of Kano State talked about the successes his administration had while he was in office and said that if he were elected in 2023, these would make life better for all Nigerians.
“By God’s grace, our party will win the next Presidential Election; we are on the ground in the North, and we will win the polls,” the APC and PDP are dead and finished.
“What sets me apart from other presidential candidates is that I travel the country on roads, not just to the state capital and local government areas, so I have firsthand knowledge of how our people live.”
“The talakawa (masses), voters, and good citizens of this country who believe in us are the foundation of the NNPP. The APC and PDP are well-known to Nigerians, but they have failed. The two political parties are aware of their own failure. They only have the option of buying votes.
“The PDP has been wounded in the Southeast by the emergence of some Political parties; of course, in the North, we have caged PDP; even in the South South, they are no longer popular because of the Presidential primary contest, and the APC has failed the citizens; no right-thinking Nigerian will want the status quo to remain, meaning this terrible situation will continue. If the Election takes place today, the NNPP has a brighter chance. No Political party can defeat the NNPP.
“I was a part of the PDP’s formation in 1999, along with the APC. Unfortunately, the two political parties brought Nigeria back to square one, if not worse, so we formed the NNPP as a credible alternative to the two parties because we want a new Nigeria. Therefore, I am delighted that the NNPP party exists and that all Nigerians, particularly those earning a living, the masses, women, and young men, are joining the party.
He also said that the deteriorating road network in Ekiti State and other states has affected the country’s economy, education, and security, which is why he decided to run again to improve the country.
“The road from here, Ado-Ekiti, Osogbo, and Akure to Abeokuta and from here to Akure is in deplorable condition; it’s the same story, it’s the same story about us; the roads are a reflection of what is happening in other sectors of transportation, like railways, waterways, and even the aviation industry; put together, they are also a reflection of what is happening in this country, in terms of economy, insecurity, He stated
