Upon admission to the School of Nursing NAUTH, each student is expected to undergo a routine medical examination in the hospital. A letter of certification of fitness is issued by the staff doctor. This test is conducted before the students start their clinical postings in the first six months, and the results are treated accordingly.
LEAVE/VACATION:
Students are entitled to one week of leave/vacation after their first semester exams and two weeks of leave/vacation after their second semester exams (promotion exam). This totals three weeks of leave/vacation within a year.
BREAK IN TRAINING:
A student may be allowed to take a break from training for serious personal reasons, for a maximum period of 12 months from the day permission is granted. A married student who becomes pregnant is advised to take a break from training. However, students are reminded of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria regulations, which state that any continuous period of leave (other than vacation leave) exceeding 42 days constitutes a break in training, and the student must make up the missed time by joining the appropriate class for the rest of the course.
