Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, better known by her stage name Bella Shmurda, a singer from Nigeria, has spoken out about the money he gave up to get out of his old record label, One World Global Records.
Goldennewsng reports that Bella claims that he paid the management N20 million so that he could leave his three-year contract and become an independent artist.
The singer claimed that the label cheated him by taking a larger share of his earnings.
He explained on the podcast Tea with Taymesan that he would obtain N500k from the label in response to their request, and they would provide N500k for production, promotion, and other expenses that require funding.
They would, however, take 70% and give him 30% when money starts coming in from shows, streaming, endorsements, and other sources.
Bella said that the arrangement made him uncomfortable, so he hired a lawyer and bought himself out of One World Global Records.
