Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state has spoken on the recent abduction of school students and staff members by bandits in Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Bello has shared ideas in which he intends to use in making sure that banditry and other forms of abduction or violence is curtailed in his state. He stated that his major focus presently, is to seek and ensure the release of the victims who were abducted recently.
According to him, the some of the bandits are actually tired of the easy they live and they need to be taken care of. He also hoped that some of them will put down their weapons and repent. He stressed that his government is ready to welcome them and absorb them into the society.
While speaking to news men on Thursday night, he said that this will help in a very large measure in the stop of banditry and other forms of violence.
In his words;
“We must have a long lasting solution to this bandits. I also understand that some of the bandits are tired and they need to be looked after, we need to train and engage them.
“From what I have seen in the last few days, there’s hope that when the government recognises some of these bandits are ready to start a better life.”
