A petrol tanker on Wednesday morning collided with a tricycle (Keke Napep) that has resulted in over 30 persons being burnt alive in the Kogi State capital.
The accident which occured at around 9am saw scores of people lying around burnt helplessly along the busy Lokoja / Okene / Abuja road.
Among the victims of the ghastly accident were a school bus carrying both primary and secondary school students, students of the Kogi State polytechnic as well as residents and passers-by.
Eye witnesses on the the scene, pointed the blame at the driver of the petrol tanker who seem to experience a brake failure.
No fewer than a dozen vehicle were burnt to ashes in the accident.
Officers of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC have arrived on scene to start the evacuation of charred bodies to the morgue.
Golden News Ng also learnt that in 2019, a similar accident occured at the very same spot in Lokoja that resulted in the loss of over 25 lives.
