In 2019 many fans were singing the praise of female musician Yemi Alade for becoming the female Nigerian celebrity with the highest Instagram followers. She was ranked ahead of other female celebrities and musicians like Tiwa Savage, Omawunmi, Teni and many others.
It was the male singer Davido that had the highest Instagram followers in 2019 and it was about 14 million followers. However, the tide has changed as celebrity Tiwa Savage has overtaken her in the latest ranking of the most popular female celebrity on Instagram in Nigeria.
Currently, Tiwa Savage now has over 11.3 million followers on Instagram and this makes her the female celebrity with the highest number of Instagram followers in Nigeria. Her popularity also soared in 2019 after she signed an international record deal making her the most successful female singer in Nigeria.
The lock down may have helped Tiwa savage to have more followers because of a video that she released. Tiwa shared a video on her Instagram wall in which she was singing christian songs of praise and worship. That probably drew many Christians that had ignored her as a secular singer to start following her.
The celebrity had also appeared nude in a music video which was released shortly after the lock down and she is still ready to do more. But Yemi Alade after her popular “Shekere” song has not been very much in the news.
