BB State President, Vatsa
… Niger Assembly assures of speedy process
National President of the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria, Prof. Engr. Samson Duna has called on the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago to speedy up the return of Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) in public primary and secondary schools across the state if he wants a better society in the nearest future.
Prof. Duna
Speaking with Journalists at the investiture ceremony of Hon. Jonathan Vatsa as the Niger State President of the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria and 18 other state officials at the ECWA Good News Church, Minna, Prof. Duna said, CRK is one of the best strategies that every government needs to bring out good morals that affect the upbringing of every child.
While calling on governments at all levels to ensure Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) is taught in all public primary and secondary schools across the nation, he said “any act or strategy that will bring out good morals that affect the upbringing of the youth should be encouraged.
At the guard of honour
“I appeal to the government to ensure that CRK is part of primary and secondary school curriculum if we must inculcate in our children the best morals and help their future.”
Also, the Niger state House of Assembly through the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda assured of speedy process for the urgent return of CRK saying “we are already working on it”.
Responding to whether the State House of Assembly will speedy up the process for the approval and return of CRK in the state, the Deputy Speaker said, “when it comes to the state House of Assembly, you can be guaranteed. Not only the Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) and the Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) but also the teacher’s college that we used to have. We will do our beat and make sure we go back to the old time religion.
Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda
“We are already working on it and of course other moral studies. It is very important we go back to our Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK) and the Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK) because these subjects were more like the foundation we had during our upbringing
State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna however disclosed that the Body and other stakeholders are not relenting on the call for the reintroduction of CRK adding that, “the CRK has become a very serious issue that needs urgent attention”.
State CAN Chairman
Accordingly, he said “we are hoping for a positive response from the government because, if we must address the issue of morals and youth restiveness, it has to start from strategies like the reintroduction of CRK and other good programmes”.
In his remarks, President of the Boys’ Brigade, Niger state Council, Hon. Jonathan Vatsa while speaking said “Boys’ Brigade is an organization that is geared towards training young boys to become God-fearing and responsible citizens in the society.
“If we teach our children good morals in our churches, in our mosques and then Government approves the teaching of CRK/IRK in public schools, the issue of bandits, kidnappers, urchins and restiveness would reduce drastically in our society “.
Hon. Vatsa
The former spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism disclosed that, his leadership will do all it can to inculcate into the boys the fear of God and good morals so as to breed future leaders.
