Over 93.5 million people have registered for the National Identity Number (NIN) in the national database.
Goldennewsng reports that On Wednesday, December 21, the Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mr. Aliyu Aziz, made the disclosure during a one-day roundtable meeting hosted by Identify for Development (ID4D).
Aziz said;
“Compared to just 7 million when I took office in 2015, the National Identity Database now has over 90 million (93.5 million) records. This is a stark contrast.
“By implementing a centralized, one-of-a-kind identification system for Nigerians and legal residents, the strategic roadmap for digital identification in Nigeria aims to simplify the identification procedure. In contrast to the scattered, multi-issuing ID agencies of the past, this is a stark contrast.
