Sherifdeen Al-Kadriyar, one of the uncles of the murder victim from last week’s kidnapping in Abuja, has described how the family received news of Nabeeha’s death.
GOLDENNEWSNG previously detailed the abduction of Nabeeha, her father, and sisters in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Tuesday night.
Alhaji Abdulfatai, an uncle of the deceased who led the police in the rescue operation, was tragically shot and killed by the bandits. Additionally, it is reported that two out of the three injured policemen, struck by bullets during the gunfire exchange, have succumbed to their injuries.
Speaking to GOLDENNEWSNG, Nabeeha’s uncle, actively involved in the rescue efforts, revealed that the bandits became furious upon learning they had only raised half of the N60 million ransom.
Despite negotiations, the situation escalated when, after missing the Friday deadline, the family was instructed to pick up a ‘message’ at a designated location at night. To their horror, upon arrival, they discovered Nabeeha and three other victims brutally murdered. They were forced to leave with Nabeeha’s body, leaving the others behind.
The uncle explained, “They later called and warned that they would be killing the rest siblings if the ransom, now increased to N100 million, N20 million each for the remaining five, is not met by the next Wednesday deadline.” The bandits rejected the close-to-N30 million offered, leading to threats and insults.
Sherifdeen urged the state and federal government to intervene for the remaining siblings and other captives still with the bandits.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured that the police and security agencies were actively involved in the rescue mission. The Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, directed the expansion of tactical intelligence units to combat kidnapping. Adejobi emphasized the confidentiality of specific details to avoid compromising ongoing operations, stating that efforts were underway to bring perpetrators to justice and intensify rescue operations for those still in captivity.
