In Zamfara, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigerians Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Goldennewsng reports that Abdul’aziz Yari, the state’s former governor and chairman of the APC governorship campaign council, welcomed them on Monday.
In a statement on Monday, Yari’s spokesperson Dahiru Mafara provided the names of the decampees.
They are Senatorial candidate for the Zamfara North Senatorial District, Ibrahim Shinkafi, of the NNPP; Suleiman Garba is a Shinkafi and Zurmi Constituency House of Representatives candidate.
Suleiman Galadi, Treasurer of the State; The NNPP Chairmen of the Kaura-Namoda and Zurmi Local Governments also left.
The Secretary and Treasurer, Aminu Saminu and Hajiya Umulkhairi Aminu, as well as the Coordinator of a Foundation for PDP governorship campaign, Aminu Kanoma, round out the group.
Musa Zubairu, the council’s Chairman of the Contact and Mobilization Sub-committee, represented Yari.
Tukur Danfulani, the chairman of the Zamfara APC, and a number of other chieftains attended the event that was held at Talata Mafara.
