Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has stated that the provocations of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike are to blame for the northerners’ support for PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Goldennewsng reports that Omokri stated in a post on his social media accounts that the primary factor that swayed the North in favor of Atiku was the manner in which Atiku responded to Wike’s provocation.
Omokri claims that despite Wike’s insult, Atiku has been able to maintain his composure rather than respond.
He explained that Atiku’s popularity in the North has increased as a result of Gov. Wike’s attacks on him because Atiku was able to maintain his composure in the face of the insults.
DAILY POST recalls that Wike has been leading a group of five resentful PDP governors, the G-5, against their party’s presidential candidate.
The crisis began immediately following Wike’s defeat to Atiku in the PDP presidential primary.
Since then, the governor of Rivers has asked the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign because he is from the north, like Atiku.
Since then, the governor of Rivers has asked the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign because he is from the north, like Atiku.
According to Wike and the other four enraged PDP governors, the fact that the party’s presidential candidate and national chairman are both from the North would be unfair to the South.
Since then, efforts to persuade the governors to back Atiku have failed because they have threatened to work for another South Carolina presidential candidate beginning in January 2023.
There is a rumor that Wike and his team haven’t convinced anyone about who to back, between Bola Tinubu of the APC and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP.
Atiku’s Rivers campaign office was recently shut down by Wike on the grounds that it was set up against his executive order.
Omokri spoke, saying: The manner in which Waziri Atiku Abubakar responded to Wike’s provocations was another factor that pushed the North toward supporting him. Atiku remained silent and did not respond to any of Wike’s insults. Wike will be grateful to you if you know how popular it has become in Waziri.
“In their opinion, a man with the capacity to lead under pressure is a man who can command such presence and maintain his cool under such a continuous and one-sided barrage of insults.”
