Doyin Okupe, a former Director-General of the Labour Party Campaign Council, has congratulated Prof. Akin Oshuntokun on being chosen to succeed him.
Goldennewsng reports that following his conviction for violating the Money Laundering Act by a Federal High Court in Abuja, Okupe resigned from his position as the DG of the Obi-Datti campaign on December 20.
However, Oshuntokun, a former aide to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, was appointed the new campaign DG by the party on Tuesday.
In response, Okupe expressed optimism regarding Oshuntokun’s ability to deliver in a tweet sent under his official Twitter handle.
Okupe said that the new DG had been a strong supporter of the Obidient movement.
The tweet begins with: The appointment of Prof. Akin Oshuntokun, my brother, close friend, strong ally, and confidant, as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organization was announced to me.
From the beginning, Oshuntokun has been a dedicated and essential part of this great movement. I wish him success.
“He was also a director of the presidential campaign of the then-ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011,” according to the statement, “He served as political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.”
