These talented individuals earned their qualifications by winning medals at the FISU World Qualifying Games, held at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo State, from May 8 to May 14.

Dr. Segun Olawunmi, the Director of Sports and Recreation at LASU, accompanied by Deputy Director Mr. Owoyemi Idowu and other technical officials, expressed their delight at the achievements of these LASU athletes during the qualifying games. Dr. Olawunmi stated, “We are pleased that these five LASU athletes will be part of the Nigerian contingent at the FISU World University Games.”

It is worth mentioning that the 32nd FISU University Games were initially scheduled to be held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2021. However, due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the hosting rights were transferred to the city of Chengdu, China.
