After the 2023 elections, Buhari will hand over power to another elected president. He has served for two terms at the same time.

The president reiterated his plans and stated that he would like to retire in his hometown of Daura, in the state of Katsina.

Buhari stated, “I congratulate you on this great day (Christmas) and thank you very much for taking the time to come and visit me.”

“I have guaranteed a great deal of my partners that I will attempt to be really far away from Abuja when I leave office so it’s not possible for anyone to make any issue for me any longer.

“I will be in Daura, which is on the border with the Niger Republic, and I think I will be safe enough there despite the technology,” the individual stated.

He also expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for their confidence, support, and acceptance of his leadership role.

The president claims that during his 2003 campaign for the position, he took his time to visit each of the country’s 774 local government areas and received overwhelming support.

“I thank God that I traveled through every state from 2003 to 2011 prior to the elections in 2019. I thanked Nigerians at all of the country’s local governments. He went on to say, “The people who showed up in every local government were more than anything money could buy.”

Therefore, I was pleased with the respect and acceptance I received from Nigerians. I will happily retire in accordance with the country’s constitution in five months and return home.

Because he is the governor-general of the FCT, a delegation of residents of the territory, speaking on behalf of the delegates, are now required to pay homage to the president during holidays like Christmas and Sallah.

“It is not surprising to make such visits because, according to the Constitution, you are also the head of the FCT’s administration as the governor-general, but you have graciously delegated that to me.” Because of the emergence of the coronavirus in 2020 and 2021, we were unable to make such visits today,” the minister stated.

This also marks the last Christmas when residents of the FCT will be able to visit and pay you homage, as your term will end in five months and a new president will take office the following Christmas.

Therefore, we take this opportunity to express our gratitude to God for allowing us to attend multiple Christmas celebrations under your leadership.

“I also, on behalf of all FCT residents, wish you well and ask God to bless you with a long life and a productive and healthy retirement in the coming months. We also want to express our gratitude for everything you have done for the nation thus far.

On his part, Daniel Okoh, leader of the Christian Relationship of Nigeria, said thanks to God for supporting Nigeria’s solidarity, as he commended Buhari for really buckling down for the advancement of Nigeria.
