What is POS Machine?

In general terms, a POS or Point Of Sale machine is a terminal or part of the checkout process that processes credit or debit cards and finalizes the transaction. Sometimes it can be a whole terminal with a cash register, printing uni, display monitor, etc. or sometimes it can be as small as a mobile.

As the technology and payments landscape evolves, business needs to evolve with them, making the requirement for POS quite customizable.

Types of POS Machines

There are different types of Point Of Sale machines available, however, mobile Point Of Sale machines are the most common in Nigeria. There are two other Point Of Sale Machine versions which are much larger, better, and can perform some additional functions. However, they are more expensive and are only found in high-end supermarkets.

The following are the types of Point Of Sale machines you can find in Nigeria:

  • Countertop Point Of Sale machine
  • Retail Point Of Sale machine
  • Mobile Point Of Sale machine

Simply apply for the machine by completing the required form and waiting 14 days for it to be ready. Visit the Polaris Bank website to fill out the online form, or head to the closest Polaris bank branch near you to complete the form

How to get an offline POS machine in Nigeria

What’s an offline POS machine?

Offline POS devices enable you to conduct offline transactions using an Offline cache. Offline POS devices operate only when internet connections are unreliable, allowing them to complete basic transactions, preserve data, and then upload all transactions and data entered to the server as soon as the internet is reconnected.

Where to buy Offline POS machines in Nigeria

To purchase an offline POS machine in Nigeria, go to Aliexpress or Amazon. I’ve also seen offline POS devices for sale on Jiji Nigeria. These websites feature retailers who most likely purchased their POS devices in China. I haven’t used any of them, so I can’t say whether any unique computer settings will be required.

So do your homework, study all the terminology, and avoid falling into the hands of scammers.

In Nigeria, the easiest way to obtain a POS machine is through your bank. To obtain a POS machine, most banks will want you to fill out certain documents and have an account with them.

Contact your Nigerian bank, explain what you want, and they should be able to advise you on how to obtain their own POS equipment.

Some banks and payment processors may demand you to have a good track record with them, and Opay is one of the most popular.

Here is a list of banks and payment processing firms that will provide you with a free POS machine when you meet their requirements.

  • Access Bank
  • UBA
  • Zenitbank
  • Firstbank
  • GTbank
  • Ecobank
  • Opay
  • Paga
  • FCMB

What you need to get an Opay POS Machine

The company simply asks you to download the app from the Google Play or Apple App Store, fill out the agent registration form, and begin doing transactions until you are qualified to receive your own POS. All you have to do is go to one of their offices to get your POS.

Baxi Box Agent Registration and How to Get Baxi POS

Baxi box is certainly one of the best and most accessible offline and online POS machine vendors. Simply fill out the form on their page, and you will be provided instructions on how to register and begin utilizing the POS machines. The machines are not difficult to set up, and you will earn commissions when customers use the POS machine.

You get to create or develop your own business, and no matter how small your community is, you will be able to conduct transactions without any problems.

Baxi Box POS Machine Charges and Commission

When you make a withdrawal, Baxi Box costs roughly 0.65 percent. As a result, you may have to charge higher rates to consumers when big sums of money are withdrawn. While I feel this is a disadvantage for this POS service, I believe you should be able to get around it by charging clients 50 naira for every 1000 naira they withdraw.

According to the firm, the most commission you may get as a Baxi agent when you vend for Golden Chance lotto is roughly 25%. Naija Lotto, Set Lotto, and Trugames are some additional lotteries you might work with to earn huge profits. The Baxi Box customer service phone number is 017008571.

So there you have it, my article on where to buy offline POS machines in Nigeria or how to acquire one for free if you meet the conditions.
