The appropriations bill for 2023 will be signed by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, unless plans change at the last minute.
Goldennewsng reports that following a meeting with the president that was held behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, Senator Ahmad Lawan, the President of the Senate, made this statement to State House correspondents.
Lawan also stated that he spoke with the President about a number of national issues, among them the legislature’s support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the elections in 2023 and Buhari’s recent request for an additional loan.
He claimed that: We anticipate Mr. President signing the Appropriation Bill 2023 on Tuesday, by God’s grace.
This is due to the fact that we signed the document yesterday after losing some time due to erroneous figures in the bill we presented to the National Assembly.
“However, the Appropriation Bill 2023 was approved on Wednesday by the NASS (National Assembly) in both chambers, which is a blessing.
“And I believe that Mr. President will sign the Appropriation Bill 2023 first thing on Tuesday.”
