JAMB Subject Combination For Yoruba

Below is the JAMB subject combination for Yoruba in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities:

  • English Language
  • Yoruba
  • Government or Economics (accepted)
  • Any other art subject

Requirements to Study Yoruba in Nigeria:

  1. To commence Yoruba studies in Nigeria, you must have a minimum of five (5) credits at the O’Level (WAEC or NECO), including English and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings. However, some schools may require a single sitting.
  2. By the end of October in the year of admission, you must have reached the age of sixteen (16).
  3. Attain the Yoruba cutoff score required by your chosen university.
  4. Possess strong results from JAMB, WAEC, and any post-UTME examinations.

Direct Entry Requirements to Study Yoruba in Nigeria:

  1. A maximum of two (2) sittings with a minimum of five (5) credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE).
  2. Hold a degree in a related discipline with a First Class or Second Class Upper.
  3. Direct entry candidates must obtain the Direct Entry form from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  4. Possess an Advanced Level Certificate with a minimum Merit Pass in the National Certificate of Education (NCE), National Diploma (ND), or any relevant Advanced Level Certificate.
  5. Any additional qualifications equivalent to the requirements stated in points (1) and (4) above, and accepted by the Senate of the chosen university. Candidates must also meet the Faculty/Departmental entry requirements in addition to the minimum admission requirements mentioned above.
