JAMB Officially Releases 2025 UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) confirmed on Friday, 9th May 2025, that the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have been released. This announcement was made at the JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.

According to officials, over 1.9 million candidates sat for this year’s UTME. The exam covered four core subjects per candidate, with Use of English as a compulsory paper. Each candidate’s total score is graded out of 400 mar

Why Is JAMB Not Showing Me My Result Yet?

If you’ve tried checking your 2025 UTME result and nothing is showing, don’t panic. There are a couple of reasons why your result might not be available yet:

  1. Your result is still being processed – JAMB sometimes releases results in batches, especially when they are conducting thorough checks.

  2. Your result has been withheld – If there was any suspicion of exam malpractice, biometric issues, or registration irregularities, JAMB may place your result on hold for investigation.

In such cases, it’s best to be patient and keep checking periodically. You can also monitor official updates from JAMB for more information.

JAMB Withholds 39,834 Results Over Exam Malpractice in 2025 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has withheld 39,834 results from the 2025 UTME due to suspected examination malpractice. According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, 80 suspects are under investigation, with Anambra State recording the highest number of offenders. Additionally, 3,656 results were flagged for biometric fraud, 244 candidates were caught in “WhatsApp runs,” and 50 underage candidates were linked to cheating rings.

Out of over 2 million registered candidates, 1.95 million sat for the exam while 71,705 were absent. 467 underage candidates scored above the benchmark and will undergo further assessment. The Board emphasized a strict stance against impersonation, identity fraud, and illegal involvement of some CBT centers, with several centers facing sanctions or delisting.

Candidates can check their UTME results by texting “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using their registration phone number. Full result printing will be available soon.

Performance Breakdown: 2025 UTME Results

JAMB has revealed some early statistics from the result data:

  • Over 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, which is generally regarded as the average benchmark for university admission in Nigeria.

  • This year’s low performance has been linked to improved anti-malpractice measures.

  • According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the high failure rate indicates that recent reforms are working effectively to sanitize the examination process.

“We’ve tightened the system. What you’re seeing is the outcome of a more honest and transparent UTME process,” Dr. Alausa said.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why is my JAMB result not showing on the portal?
Your result may not be available yet because it’s either still being processed or has been withheld due to issues like suspected malpractice, biometric errors, or double registration.

2. How do I know if my result was withheld by JAMB?
If you try checking your result and see a message like “Result Not Yet Released” or get no feedback at all, your result might be under investigation. JAMB usually gives updates through official channels, so keep checking the JAMB website or social media pages.

3. Can I still gain admission if my result is withheld?
Not until JAMB clears the issue. If your result is eventually released, and you meet the cutoff mark, you’ll be eligible for admission. Otherwise, withheld results may lead to disqualification.

4. How long does it take JAMB to release withheld results?
It varies. Some results are released within a week, while others may take longer if serious investigations are involved.

5. What should I do if I think my result was wrongly withheld?
You can visit the nearest JAMB office or CBT centre to lodge a formal complaint. Bring along your registration slip and a valid ID for reference.

6. Will I get an SMS when my result is released?
Yes, if your number was correctly registered, JAMB may send an SMS once your result becomes available. You can also check manually by texting “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number you used to register.

The release of the 2025 JAMB UTME results marks a critical step in your admission journey. Whether your score meets expectations or not, remember that admission is still a process and there are options ahead. If you scored low, don’t panic — explore polytechnic and college of education opportunities or consider a change of course or institution via the JAMB portal.

Man Arrested After Disguising as Dispatch Rider to Murder Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.” Deborah’s sister described her as a hardworking interior decorator who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. On the night of the attack, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider in an attempt to infiltrate the estate. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
