The allegations that Muslim students scheduled to take the mock examination at a CBT center within Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, were denied entry based on their religious beliefs have been addressed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

On Monday, April 3, a video surfaced online showing female JAMB candidates standing outside the exam venue after they were purportedly prevented from taking their mock exams because they were wearing hijabs.

Olayode Akeem, a parent who accompanied his child to the center, claimed that security guards at the university prevented hijab-wearing candidates from entering Canaanland, stating that they were acting under instructions from higher authorities.

JAMB, on the other hand, released a statement refuting Covenant University’s involvement in such instructions and apologizing to the affected candidates. The examination body also stated that the university officials intervened immediately to rectify the situation and ensure that the candidates could take their exams.
