List of Youth Empowerment Programmes in Nigeria 2022 and Links to Apply

Unemployment is without a doubt one of Nigeria’s most serious economic problems. As a result, people’s abilities and knowledge must be employed in order to achieve economic growth and social development. Despite the pervasive problem of unemployment, a number of bodies and organizations have taken steps to promote skill development and give Nigerian youth opportunities to contribute to the country’s progress.

Nigerians can engage in Youth Empowerment programs, which are government-funded projects aimed at boosting manpower and human capacity. Let’s have a look at the full list of these youth empowerment projects.

Youth Empowerment Programmes in Nigeria 2022

NPOWER

The Nigerian government implemented this program to tackle youth unemployment.
This initiative is currently deploying 500000 trained graduates around the United States.
Everyone who participates will learn and master skills that will enable him to work.

NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS

The Nigerian government established the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during the military dictatorship to include Nigerian graduates in nation building and development.

The national program, which lasts a year, is for graduates. In order to improve their abilities, the graduates participate in a variety of vocational activities.

As graduates work for diverse organizations, many types of skill development programs are accessible.

Nigerian Youth Investment Fund

The Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) was set up as an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development (FMYSD) and funded by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to invest in youth ideas to build sustainable businesses that can activate enterprise and increase job opportunities in Nigeria. The fund is dedicated to investing in the innovative ideas, skills & talents of Nigerian youths aimed at turning them into entrepreneurs, wealth creators and employers of labour, contributing to national development.

The plan targets young people between the ages of 18-35 years and details the needed actions required to support business establishment, expansion and consequent employment creation for youth in critical economic and social sectors.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (YEDI)

Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (YEDI) is an adolescent health organisation and implementing partner of Grassroot Soccer Inc. with a mission to educate, empower, and inspire youth and community development in Nigeria using proven, effective and innovative development approaches.

This program for adolescent empowerment began in 2011. The goal is to motivate and inspire Nigerian youths.

This program is being expanded, and additional possibilities for youngsters are being created, as well as a focus on the issues they face.

AFRICAN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT NIGERIA (AYEN)

This organization’s mission is to assist youths in developing in ways that will produce positive outcomes in society. Seminars, workshops, and vocational programs are among its offerings.

AYEN provides financial and educational assistance to children, as well as ensuring that they attend school.

NIGERIAN YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS (YEN)

This company provides comprehensive leadership training and seminars. The goal of this program is to help young people improve their personal qualities. Many youngsters have benefited from YEN’s assistance in a variety of fields, and many have become self-sufficient.

YOUTH EMPOWERING PEOPLE (YEP)

YOUTH ENTERPRISE WITH INNOVATION IN NIGERIA (YOUWIN)

In Nigeria, the Youth Enterprise with Innovation program works in partnership with the Ministry of Communication Technology and the Ministry of Youth Development to inspire young people to become entrepreneurs. They encourage teenagers to start their own businesses and help them produce more jobs.

SUBSIDY REINVESTMENT AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (SURE-P)

The Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program known as ‘SURE-P is a scheme established by the Federal Government of Nigeria during the Jonathan Administration, to re-investing the Federal Government  SURE-P was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria during the presidency of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

The goal is to reinvest revenues from the withdrawal of gasoline subsidies into selected infrastructure projects and social safety net initiatives that have a direct impact on Nigerian citizens.

YOUTH INITIATIVE FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE IN NIGERIA (YISA)

This program’s goal is to rectify, stimulate, educate, inspire, train, and support young individuals who want to pursue agriculture as a business rather than a development project. It is made up of a diverse group of agricultural students, including graduates and non-graduates.  CLICK HERE

GRADUATE INTERNSHIP SCHEME (GIS)

The GIS intends to provide opportunities for 5000 young graduates who meet the criteria. These graduates will be placed as interns in effective and functional private/public sector firms to help meet the demand for personnel.

YOUTH ENTREPRENEUR SUPPORT PROGRAM (YES-P)

This initiative is part of the Bank of Industry’s effort to alleviate Nigeria’s troubling youth employment situation. The YES program aims to provide teenagers with the necessary skills and knowledge to work for themselves.

DIAMOND CREST FOR YOUTH EDUCATION FOUNDATION

This organization’s mission is to improve and provide high-quality education to young people.

Through education, they also serve to promote national and international unification ideas. Through frequent educational programs, they develop good social relationships among the youth.

NEW ERA FOUNDATION

Senator Oluremi Tinubu served as President and Founder of the charity, which was established in 2000. The programs at this foundation are designed from the start to promote the healthy development of children within the family circle.

YOUTH FOR TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATION

They provide rural communities with technology and resources. This initiative empowers young people. As a result, it’s one of the youth empowerment programs to keep an eye on.

FOUNDATION FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

This organization aims to provide unemployed people with the technical and vocational skills they need to start their own business.

UNITED NATIONS OF YOUTH NETWORK NIGERIA

This group aspires to inspire youths to make a good difference for a more unified world. They are a non-governmental organization that works with many young people in several nations, including Nigeria.

INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR DEVELOPMENT AFFAIRS

This organization’s mission is to promote and sustain civil society empowerment through communication and development education.

LAGOS DIGITAL VILLAGE

This digital center teaches young people about digital businesses. Rather than an empowerment program, this is more like a training session.

LEAP AFRICA

This organization prepares, trains, and enables a group of young people to be more effective, accountable, and leaders.

MOVEMENT FOR YOUTH ACTUALISATION INTERNATIONAL

They participate in youth productivity and liberalization projects. They educate and develop those who are less fortunate.

PRESIDENTIAL YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SCHEME (P-YES)

P-YES is an incubation program in which kids are directly empowered with Seed Empowerment Tools (SET) with the goal of developing many levels of empowerment.

TONY ELUMELU SAHEL YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (TEF-UNDP)

In ten years, the TEF-UNDP Sahel Youth Entrepreneurship initiative will train, advise, and financially support 100,000 young African entrepreneurs. The purpose is to contribute to Africa’s broader goal of creating 10 million new employment and $10 billion in new annual revenue.

TRADERMONI

The Federal Government of Nigeria launched this empowerment program under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) programme. It is a zero-interest lending program aimed towards modest traders, artisans, and youths in Nigeria.

LEVENTIS FOUNDATION AGRICULTURAL FULLY-FUNDED ONE-YEAR TRAINING PROGRAM

In addition to the routine Leventis Foundation one-year agricultural training, the Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) provides a variety of consulting services and targeted relatively brief courses in various aspects of agriculture, such as poultry production, vegetable production, beekeeping, honey production, fish farming, mushroom production, value chain mapping, and so on.

FEDERAL MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS DEEL PROGRAM

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development had unveiled its Digital Skills initiative, abbreviated as -DEEL-, with the goal of increasing the number of people transitioning from unemployment to more lucrative occupations.
